This Dell Inspiron laptop had a couple of minor issues that needed fixing: the mouse button had broken, and it was generally very dirty (inside and out). We cleaned the outside and inside of the laptop and fixed the mouse button so it was ‘clickable’ again. Really unusual job here which required a unique fix. Some silica balls (the type used to absorb moisture in packaging) had got stuck in the mic and headphone jacks of a laptop! We had to completely dismantle the laptop to be able to carefully removed the balls from the jacks. Picture of a small laptop motherboard, CPU heatsink and fan. This laptop was dirty and all components needed a thorough clean. Afterwards the laptop was running at normal speed and sound levels. An HP laptop half disassembled. Along the bottom of the screen you can see the battery, bottom case cover, DVD drive, hard drive, keyboard. Really dirty heatsink. This laptop was getting too hot to be able to touch for more that a second or two. The fan also sounded like it was taking off, and you can see why…so much dust meant the fan had to work super hard. When this was removed and the heat sink polished for a bit of added dust resistance, the laptop was repaired and good as new. Underneath a keyboard. This keyboard had to be replaced because a key wasn’t working at all, and others were intermittently working. You can see why the keyboard was failing if this much dirt was underneath it. Laptop CPU without heatsink. Here the thermal paste that creates good heat flow between chip and heatsink is old and needs replacing. This is a graphics card from a gaming laptop. Usually the graphic chip is integrated in to motherboard, but here is it removable. After consulting with the customer it was decided not fix or replaced failed part due to cost
