Sometimes some extra info about your machine is useful to quote for work or upgrades. Here are some guides which should allow you to get info you can then send to us. Please send the info to us either to mobile: 07552380585 or email: help@sheffieldcomputerservices.co.uk – writing a message is fine or if it’s difficult please send photos of the info (but make sure it’s a good photo, in focus and large enough to see the required detail).

Section A: For Windows PCs
- RAM / Memory info: Please do both:
- Right click on ‘This PC’ and go to properties. If you cannot see This PC press the Windows Key (usually bottom left-ish area on keyboard) and type ‘This PC’ and right-click on the usually top result of the search. Both get you to a screen with system information and let us know the Installed Memory (RAM)
- Download and install CPU-z from: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html (at time of writing this find ‘classic versions’ section and click on ‘Setup English’ > When CPU-Z is installed, open it (should be a shortcut on the desktop and start menu) and it’ll show a window with loads of info on it. Right at the bottom click on the down arrow next to ‘tools’ then select ‘save report as HTML’ and save the report somewhere on your machine. Then please email that file as an attachment.
- Model Number / Name / Type / Serial:
- Laptops: Nearly always there is a sticker with info on the bottom/underside of the machine, or under the battery. Look for and send us anything like ‘model name’, ‘model number’, ‘model type’, ‘serial number’, ‘service tag’ etc. Information varies across brands and models so you may not have all other these details or use exactly those words, but you should be able work out what is useful. If you are not sure, please take a photo(s) of all stickers on the machine and send them to us.
- Desktops: If the machine is from a big brand there might be a sticker on the side with info like above, otherwise we will probably need to see the machine ourselves.
- Storage Info: Open ‘This PC’ or ‘File Explorer’ and look for disk drives and there is usually a C: and sometimes a D: – If you can’t see them look and the left side column an expand ‘this pc’ and they are normally there. Right-click on C: drive and go to properties and then let us know (and repeat for D drive is there is one and it is not a DVD drive):
